Staying Healthy While Moving

Moving is a stressful time, after all many people find that moving ranks right up there with having a death in the family when it comes to the stress that it causes. And we all know that stress can wreck havoc on our health. Staying healthy while moving is something that everyone should strive for. We realize it can be difficult, but we have a few tips that can help you to achieve this!

4 Tips for Staying Healthy While Moving

When you are moving, the key is to be safe and stay healthy. With this being said, here are some tips that can help you to stay as healthy as possible.

1. Make sure that you are staying hydrated

It is easy to become dehydrated when you are moving, as you are not paying attention to how much you are drinking. You can make sure that you are drinking plenty of water, while also eating hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumber, tomatoes, and much more. You will want to consumer anywhere from 30 to 50 ounces of fluid per day to stay hydrated and healthy.

2. Get enough rest.

It can be hard to rest when you are thinking about all that you need to do between now and moving day. However, getting enough rest is essential for you to function at your best. Most healthy adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep every night to keep their immune system working as it such and to feel like they can take on the world the next day. If you find yourself packing up late into the night, then be sure to take a cat nap the next day to avoid being sleepy and causing injuries to yourself.

3. Take some time out to manage the stress

Many people find that doing nothing more than reading a book at the end of the day to take their mind off of the upcoming move is enough to help with their stress levels. You could opt to exercise a little, meditate, or even just watch a mindless tv show to help you relax. Use this time to not worry about all that needs to get done, but to just relax…your body will thank you for it later.

4. Warm up before packing

Whether you are packing a few boxes every day or going at this hardcore a few days before the movers arrive, be sure that you are taking some time to warm up. Warming-up exercises are meant to help prevent injury. Believe it or not, when people are moving, they suffer several injuries and many are sprains resulting from not warming up properly. Take a few minutes to warm up before you start packing to ensure you are safe!
